Join us for an instructional photo tour and workshop in Alaska, the Last Frontier. This trip is designed to help you capture the state's awe-inspiring landscapes and wildlife from the unique perspective of a private yacht. We’ll visit remote locations that large vessels can’t access, providing exclusive opportunities to photograph dramatic coastal fjords, glaciers, towering mountains, dense forests, and an abundance of wildlife, including coastal brown bears, black bears, whales, and bald eagles.
Bears
Throughout the trip, we’ll have opportunities to photograph bears in several remarkable settings. One of the most unforgettable experiences awaits at Anan Creek Bear Observatory. It is a world-class site for watching bears skillfully catch salmon in the rushing creek below.
A short walk brings us to a viewing platform perched above a waterfall, where both black and brown bears converge to feed during the salmon run. The spectacle also draws bald eagles, gulls, and even harbor seals, adding layers of wildlife drama to the scene.
Photograph through a creekside photo blind offers up-close perspectives. It is great for capturing intimate moments and wonderful bear behavior..
Whales and other Wildlife
Much of the trip takes place in prime humpback whale habitat, where the calm waters of the Inside Passage offer outstanding opportunities for whale photography. The region is also renowned for its dramatic scenery and diverse array of wildlife. While exploring nearby areas, we’ll search for bears, bald eagles, puffins, seals, Dall’s porpoise, and sea lions. With so much happening in these rich habitats, there will be plenty of chances to photograph Alaska’s remarkable wildlife.
Fjords and Glaciers
Snowcapped mountains, glaciers, rivers, and fjords create a scenic backdrop throughout much of the tour. One of our stops is Tracy Arm Fjord, known for its striking beauty and dramatic tidewater glaciers.
The Yacht
The 87-foot classic motor yacht is elegant, spacious, and designed for intimate adventure cruising. With wide covered decks, a forward viewing lounge, multiple bathrooms guest cabins, it blends old-world charm with modern comfort.
It’s large enough to offer multiple gathering spaces (like a separate dining salon and fantail lounge), yet nimble enough to access secluded coves and wildlife-rich waterways that bigger vessels can’t reach.
If you're thinking about photography potential, its open bow and panoramic windows make it a dream platform for capturing Alaska’s marine life and landscapes.
Exploration & Expertise Onboard
Two skiffs are available throughout the trip, offering flexible access to shore excursions, wildlife encounters, and unique photo opportunities in remote settings.
Our seasoned crew includs a captain, co-captain, mate, and chef—ensures smooth sailing, delicious meals, and attentive support every step of the way.
